Did you know that the best way to get rid of stains on a white T-shirt, is to put it in the sunshine? I almost didn’t believe my friend when she told me this. I had tried every stain remover I could find to get rid of the Bolognese sauce on my brand-new white T.
After a few hours in the sunshine, there was no single stain on my top. I couldn’t believe it! I tried it again with one of my daughter’s tops. I skipped all the stain removers and went straight to the sunlight this time. It worked! Again!
As I unpacked the washing, I was pondering this remarkable thing, and I was reminded of the beautiful truth in Psalm 34:5 KJV:
They looked unto him, and were lightened: and their faces were not ashamed.
One of the toughest stains to remove from our hearts is shame.
Shame was the stain left on my heart after I suffered a traumatic event at the tender age of seven. I ran to the pulpit at every altar call, begging God to forgive me. Years passed, and as I learned about God, the stain faded. It wasn’t until I saw the face of the King that the stain was completely removed from my heart.
As I saw the compassion on the face of my Father, I got untangled from shame.
Beautiful friend, I pray that if you are struggling with shame, you will get a glimpse of the face of your Father. He loves you so. He does not want you tangled up in shame. He wants you to enjoy your freedom. Look to Him and be lightened.
Here is a five-minute meditation that will help you get untangled from the lie of shame.
May you continue to live stain-free and shame-free.
